About This Toolkit
This toolkit gives Sport Calgary member organizations and Calgarians ready-to-use communications tactics and assets to inform and advocate to their communities about Calgary’s sport and recreation infrastructure needs, the City of Calgary’s GamePLAN, and the 2027–2030 City of Calgary Budget process. Organizations can utilize the content for their audiences and show support for increased investment in Calgary sport and recreation infrastructure and support funding GamePLAN at the Making Waves service level through the 2027-30 Service Plans and Budgets.
We also encourage Calgarians and groups to use their own tools, experiences, and verified information to share the key message which is – Calgary needs to invest in sport and recreation infrastructure, now.
Campaign Objective
Keep Calgary Playing is designed to build awareness and demonstrate community support for investment in Calgary’s sport and recreation infrastructure and implementation of GamePLAN’s Making Waves service level as City Council considers the 2027–2030 Budget. We need you. We need Calgary’s sport and recreation community and Calgarians to come together and make it clear that sport matters, recreation matters, and the places where Calgarians play and participate matter. The more people who participate in this campaign, the stronger our collective voice will be.
Core Campaign Message
Calgary is growing, demand for sport and recreation is strong, and many organizations are already operating at or near capacity. GamePLAN is the City of Calgary’s 25-year strategic direction for public recreation and we support funding GamePLAN at the Making Waves service level through the 2027-30 Service Plans and Budgets.
The Keep Calgary Playing campaign shares information about current demand, infrastructure capacity and the City’s long-term recreation plan, while giving Calgarians opportunities to learn more and have their say.
The key campaign calls to action are simple: share the assets and add your name to show your support for more places to play. Names remain confidential unless supporters choose to display their first name and last initial.
